Graduation Project

Anajori

Anajori in Assamese is a selfless bond of love and affection, which has been depicted in the tableware collection through the interplay of Lac, onion, turmeric, tea dyed colors with natural ecru eri silk celebrating beauty of space, leisure and the luxury of a simple life.

Within Anajori there are varied stories from Kopou phool, Koli, Hilikha and Rang, explore the myriad natural dye colors on subtle tableware for both contemporary and traditional home decor settings. The use of handspun eri silk Khadi yarn gives a natural texture to the cloth which compliments spaces with wooden, rustic, chic furniture and language. Being silk there is an element of luxury in the use of this line of tableware which cannot be done in any other silk, other than Eri silk.

I have done this Graduation Project under Center of Excellence for Khadi (CoEK) - Shillong.

The Centre of Excellence for Khadi is a project sponsored by Ministry of MSME sanctioned to NIFT to set up for addressing the needs of the Khadi and Village Industries Commission (KVIC) in India.

The main objective is to help Khadi Institutions (KI’s) to effectively design, produce and market high quality, differentiated Khadi products in the Indian and Global market. CoEK is envisaged to be a center for experimentation, innovation and Design for Khadi fabrics, apparel, accessories and home fashion.

All these collections have been made by the Khadi Institutions of Assam - Bharkhetri Unnayan Samity, Mukalmua and Gram Swaraj Parishad, Rangia in May - July 2022.
